Big Stone County will not provide legal advice for civil law and we will recommend talking with an attorney to answer those questions.

The Sheriff's Office will serve civil process but prior to service we will need the following:

  • Cover letter with who you want served
  • Full name and date of birth if possible
  • Address of service location
  • What papers are being served
  • Address of where you want the papers returned
  • Include enough copies for the service to take place
Fees
  • Mortgage Redemption ($ 100)
  • Mortgage Foreclosure Sale ($ 50)
  • Civil Process, Plus Mileage ($ 50)
  • Posting Of Notice ($ 50)
  • Unserved Process ($ 40)
  • Mileage ($ .50/mile)
